Requesting a Review of a Decision

If you disagree with a decision made by the Registrar or the Registration and Licensing Committee about your application for registration, licensure, or renewal, you can request a review of that decision.

When can I request a review of a registration and licensure decision?
You can seek a review of an application result if:

  • You have been refused registration and/or a licence
  • You have been refused the renewal of a licence
  • You have had conditions or restrictions imposed on your registration or licence

How do I request a review?
Provide a written notice via mail or e-mail to the Registrar. Your written notice must state:

  • The specific Registration and Licensing Decision you would like to be reviewed
  • The grounds for review (why you believe the original decision is incorrect)

You must also pay the Registration and Licensing Review Fee listed in the Fee Schedule. If the review results in the reversal of the original decision, this fee will be refunded to you.

How long do I have to request a review?
You must request a review within 30 days of receiving the written reasons for decision from the Registrar or Registration and Licensing Committee.

Who will review my request?
The NSOTR Registration and Licensing Review Committee.

How long will it take for the Committee to review my request?
The Registrar must provide the following to both the applicant and the Registration and Licensing Review Committee within 30 days of receiving the review request:

  • A copy of the written decision being reviewed
  • A copy of all records relating to the application in possession of the Regulator, except for any records we cannot legally share
  • Any additional information the Registrar considers necessary

The Committee will meet as soon as practicable to consider the review request, and no more than 90 days from the date the Registrar receives the review request.

Can I appear in person?
The Committee will decide whether they will review your request though written submissions or through an in-person hearing.

If the Committee requires you to appear in person, they will select a reasonable time and place and notify you at least 14 days before the date of the review.

Can I have legal representation?
Yes. You have the right to legal representation in proceeding before the Registration and Licensing Review Committee, at your expense.

How long will it take to receive the decision of the Committee?
The Committee will give its decision as soon as practicable, and no more than 90 business days, after the in-person hearing or the completion of their review of the written submissions.

Can I appeal the decision of the Committee?
A determination of the Registration and Licensing Review committee is final.
