NSOTR Board Opportunities (Updated)

There are two vacancies for registrant members on the NSOTR Board of Directors. We invite all interested registrants to apply to join the Board!

The NSOTR Board is responsible for strategic governance the Regulator. The Board governs and regulates in the public interest, not the interest of the profession. It is made up of volunteers: four licensed occupational therapists and three public members who are appointed by government.

Board members receive an honorarium and are reimbursed for expenses they incur related to their service on the Board. Board members can expect to prepare for and attend approximately 4 to 6 meetings annually and may accept additional responsibilities.

How to Apply:

All NSOTR registrants in good standing* may apply to be a director of the NSOTR Board by completing a Board Appointment Application Form and submitting it to registrar@nsotr.ca before October 24, 2025. This form helps the Appointments Committee understand the competencies, qualities, knowledge, and perspectives a candidate can offer the Board.

Application Timeline:

Although NSOTR initially planned to consider Board applications in September, some additional administrative steps are required before we can proceed. In particular, the Appointments Committee has identified some necessary changes to the Bylaws to ensure appropriate process and authority are in place.

As a result, we anticipate an approximate delay until late October before the Appointments Committee can make a decision on Board selection. For this reason, we have extended the application deadline until October 24, 2025.

We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these essential steps.

Selection Process:

NSOTR uses an intentional approach to Board selection. A diverse Board with a balance of skills, competencies, and perspectives better serves the public interest. Using a Board Composition Matrix, the Committee will recommend eligible candidates to the Board who best support our goal of a diverse and balanced Board composition. As a result, the competencies, skills, and perspectives the Committee prioritizes in candidates may change over time with the composition of the Board.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kevin Wong at registrar@nsotr.ca.
