Professional Corporations

Occupational therapists are also allowed to incorporate in Nova Scotia. This means they can practice occupational therapy as, through, or on behalf of a professional corporation.

Under the NSOTR Bylaws, corporations must hold a permit from NSOTR to provide occupational therapy services. In certain cases, NSOTR will issue waive this requirement if it is in the public interest to do so.

NSOTR does not expect or allow individual occupational therapists to apply for a permit on behalf of their employer. The directors of a corporation are responsible for ensuring that corporation meets NSOTR’s requirements. Questions about NSOTR’s corporate permit requirement or application process can be directed to registration@nsotr.ca.
