The renewal period will begin on April 1, 2026. Renewal applications are completed entirely through NSOTR’s Online Portal.
The deadline to submit a completed renewal request is May 31, 2026. However, please note that any renewal applications completed after May 15, 2026 are subject to a $100 late renewal fee.
Registrants may also choose to surrender their licence if they do not plan to practice occupational therapy after May 31. If a registrant does not renew or surrender their licence before May 31, their licence will move to the “expired” status, and they will no longer be able to practice occupational therapy or use title in Nova Scotia. They may also need to pay additional fees to become re-licensed.
Please note: if any of the following requirements are outstanding, you must complete them before you can renew your licence with NSOTR. We have notified all registrants who have outstanding requirements, but if you are unsure if you have met a specific requirement, you may contact registration@nsotr.ca to confirm:
- Providing an updated Vulnerable Sector Check
- Completing the 2025 National e-Learning Module
- Providing documents for a Continuing Competency Audit
Like last year, a detailed Step-By-Step Renewal Guide, with pictures and FAQs, will be shared with registrants and posted on our website on the Renewing Your Licence page.
